I'm Erwin Eder
Born in Schwarzach St’Veit in 1970, I grew up in Bischofshofen as the youngest child in a family of seven.
I have been living with my wife in Salzburg and Wals-Viehhausen since 2001.
As a child, I always drew and painted, and I have been expanding my skills as a self-taught artist since my youth.
Since fall 2016, I have been intensively engaged in watercolor painting.

- Regular watercolor sessions with Bernhard Vogel
Since 2025, member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Austria, Salzburg Regional Association – art bv Berchtoldvilla.
In the summer of 2025, participation in the “Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts” with Irina Nakhova: “The Nude – Interpretation in Painting.”
Description of my work
My works often arise spontaneously or are triggered by events, be it a long visit to a pub or an intense conversation about a current emotional topic. Often it is simply observations in everyday life or feelings on vacation that prompt me to translate my experiences into mostly colorful images.
When I am painting, there is chaos, but I have clear goals of putting my experiences or emotions on paper. I often compare myself to a jazz musician who knows what he wants to play, but always gives himself the space to react to things and circumstances. For me, the appeal of watercolor lies in living with mistakes or even using “mistakes” to my advantage. Not knowing what will happen in the process of painting.
